CLUB HAS NEW INDOOR RIFLE RANGE

Bar Harbor Rifles Given Use Of Basement Of Odd Fellows Hall For Range

The Bar Harbor Rifle club now has a regulation 25 yard indoor rifle range.  Space for the range has been given to the club in the basement of the Odd Fellows Hall and the members of the club, themselves, have done the necessary work to make the range suitable in all ways.  From now on the range will be open at all times to members of the club for practice shooting.  Captain Cutting is arranging a schedule of matches for the club and from now on every member will be required to do a certain amount of shooting each week.
It is expected that the membership of the club will be greatly increased within the next few weeks for several reasons.  The money received from Miss Gurnee's benefit together with other funds expected soon will make it possible for the club to obtain additional equipment for additional men.  The club offers training to men of all ages.  Those who have been drafted or are expected to be drafted will be glad to avail themselves of the opportunity to learn a few of the fundamentals before going into actual service.  Men who are too old for this draft, but who may be called in the next, will also be glad to drill with the company.  The older men who will not be drafted at all are as much, if not more, interested than the younger men.  The idea of building up an efficient home guard unit is meeting with much favor.

NOTE;  The Odd Fellows Hall was located in the building where Eden Rising is located in today.  Below is a photo of the building.
