Recently while going through old newspapers i came across a robbery which had occurred by the old merry-go-round lot on Cottage Street, which made me recall that earlier conversation - which led to the overcurious question, did Bar Harbor actually have a merry-go-round operational during the tourist season?
We, yes indeed it did, and it was located along Cottage Street. Here is a small piece in the Bar Harbor Record, dated May 26, 1897;
"The merry-go-round on Cottage Street is now ready for the whirl of summer business and is being well patronized by the younger population of the town."
In 1906 another article referred to a merry-go-round being set up next to a moving picture tent, though the location is not named. It stated that children and older folks alike were lining up for rides.

C.F. Lindall has leased a lot on Cottage Street opposite the Star Theater and is erecting a merry-go-round for a summer amusement.
So maybe a merry-go-round in Bar harbor isn't such an odd idea after all.
