BEAR BROOK CAMPGROUND - ACADIA NATIONAL PARK

ACADIA PROGRAM IS ANNOUNCED
Bar Harbor Times
July 17,  1941

Ranger - Naturalists Have Many Outings
The following Ranger-Naturalist Program is offered by Acadia National Park to all who care to participate.  Six boat trips per week are offered for those who like the water and want to learn more about the water birds, the geology, and to see Mount Desert Island from the sea.  Hikes and Nature Walks are offered for those who want some exercise in pleasant surroundings and with others interested in the outdoors.  Campfire programs three nights a week are always full of fun and sound information about some phase of natural history.
The all day sailboat voyage is planned for Great Duck Island whenever weather permits, and is of special interest to those wishing to see the rare Leach's Petrel and the nesting colonies of Herring Gulls.

The shore picnic, the overnight sunrise party, and the circumnavigation cruises scheduled for July 27 and August 10 are special features which add variety to the program.  All events are free except the boat trips, and for these a privately-owned boat is chartered.
The program is again under the supervision of Maurice Sullivan, Park Naturalist.  The Ranger-Naturalists assisting him are Carsten Ahrens, George H. Chadwick and George A. Liano.
