OLD IRONSIDES HERE SATURDAY
Famous Frigate Constitution Due To Anchor In Bar Harbor This Week
Old Ironsides, the shrine of the United States Navy, and an inspiration to our children and our children's children, will make port here Saturday, July 11, under tow of the U.S. Minesweeper Grebe, remaining in port for several days, sailing from here on the fifteenth. This is the only port in Eastern Maine to be touched by the famous old frigate, which has been restored to the former seaworthiness by the pennies donated by school children the country over.
The old ship, the heroine of the famous poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, was built in 1794, at Boston. Mr. Eomphreys, a talented ship builder of Philadelphia, was the designer who combined the best qualities of the British and French ships of the time, in planning the ship which would "either fight or run," as dictated by conditions. The excellency of the design has been proved time and again by the beauty, strength and intrepidity in the Constitution. Three years after the keel was laid, the ship was fitted out and launched, at a total cost of $302,917,.
After seeing much distinguished service in various wars of our country, the famous ship was laid up some years ago. More recently, she has been completely rebuilt and is now on a tour of the coastwise cities of the country. Just fifty years ago , almost to a day, the famous old ship anchored in the harbor, with a few of Annapolis mid-shipmen on a summer cruise, in which the ship went as far as Halifax. Thus does (rest of sentence can't be read).

NOTE; this story was to be continued on page 7, but there was no second part on page seven or any other page, it appears the local paper simply forgot to include part two).
