George B. Dorr Presented With One Of A Kind Painting

A most comprehensive map and, so far as has been learned, the only map in existence which delineates the particular territory connectedly, has just been completed by Leon W. Tablut of Bar Harbor.
The map is a large painting of wonderfully selected tints and covers a canvas 9 1/2 feet high and 22 feet long.
It is called the "Acadia Map" since it embraces that part of this country claimed by the Acadians of Early French settlers and comprises the states of Maine and New Hampshire and the Provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The distinct propose of the map is to show the connected outline of the coast of Maine and Bay of Fundy, comprising the explorations of Champlain.
The map was made by the direction of Dr. Robert Abbe and will be presented to George B. Dorr to be hung in the rest room at Sieur de Monts spring.Every detail is shown on the map, including railroads, highways, rivers, lakes, mountains, islands, towns and countries and are all plainly lettered.
The color scheme is wonderful and the result of a great deal of study on the part of the artist.  The Provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are colored a pleasing tint of pink, the states of Maine and New Hampshire are colored a tint of (unreadable), the Atlantic and all lakes and rivers are made with a pale green water effect.  The lettering has been neatly and plainly done in black and stronger tones of the colors which form the background.
This is the only connected map in existence showing the territory and was produced from several maps of different sections and from dozens of marine charts.
From a conglomeration of maps of various scales, one map has been produced and perfected to one scale with absolute nicety.
It has taken Mr. Tablut four months to complete this work and a just satisfaction should be his as the result of a great work well done.
